Mindfulness: A Practice of Remembering

  • Royston Community Hall 3902 Old Island Highway Courtenay Canada (map)

In recent years, neuroscience has revealed with startling clarity what the Buddha was teaching more than 2500 years ago: “Whatever we think and frequently ponder upon, that becomes the inclination of the mind.” In other words, it’s good to know where we are placing our attention because that is what is shaping our world-view and the very architecture of the brain. The practice of mindfulness engages us in a practice of whole-hearted attention that has profound implications for how we live our lives.

In this morning retreat, we will explore how continuity of mindfulness (through sitting and walking and other activities) allows the mind to settle and makes space for clarity of thinking.
